When the Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriages, America generally, and the gay community specifically, celebrated. Same-sex marriages, and the gay and lesbian movement is more mainstream than ever.

While the national discussion has been brought to the forefront, at the state level, conversations continue.

Did you know that an estimated 0.31% of Kentucky residents is gay? That ranks as the number 29 most gay state in the nation. That means there are a total of 5,362 gay households in The Bluegrass State.

Our goal with this post is to use data and science to determine the gayest cities in Kentucky.

After analyzing 127 cities with over 1,000 households, we’ve determined these are The Gayest Cities in Kentucky for 2019:

According to the facts, Princeton is the gayest place in Kentucky for 2019.

How do you determine the best cities for same-sex households in Kentucky for 2019

In order to rank the gayest cities in Kentucky, we used the 2013-2017 American Community Survey from the U.S. Census. We looked at:

  • Percentage of all households that are unmarried, same sex partners

We limited the analysis to non-CDPs that have over 1,000 households.

We ranked each place from 1 to 127 with the city containing the highest percentage of unmarried, same sex partners households being the most gay.

In the end, ended up being the the most gay place with 4.75% gay households.

London is a home rule-class city in Laurel County, Kentucky, in the United States. It is the seat of its county. The population was 7,993 at the time of the 2010 U.S. census. London, Kentucky, is the second-largest city named London in the United States and the fourth-largest in the world. It is part of the London, Kentucky micropolitan area. Of the seventeen micropolitan areas in Kentucky, London is the largest; the London micropolitan area’s 2010 Census population was 126,369. London is also home to the annual World Chicken Festival that celebrates the life of Colonel Sanders and features the world’s largest skillet.

Corbin is a home rule-class city in Whitley and Knox counties in the southeastern portion of the U.S. state of Kentucky. The urbanized area around Corbin extends into Laurel County; this area is not incorporated into the city limits due to a state law prohibiting cities from being in more than two counties. However, this area is served by some of the city’s public services. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 7,304, with 21,132 living in the “urban cluster” that includes Corbin and North Corbin.

The largest city in the Jackson Purchase region, it is located at the confluence of the Tennessee and the Ohio Rivers, halfway between St. Louis, Missouri, to the northwest and Nashville, Tennessee, to the southeast.
